Kim's Story

Hello! My name is Kimberly Mears (I go by Kim, Kimberly, Hey You.. whatever people prefer to call me!)

I am the Relentless Creative Director, which basically means I run the blog, design the site, take photos, fun things like that!

A little bit about me:

I am 19 years old, and attending a local community college! (yay) I LOVE most things artsy: photography, singing, painting, drawing, graphic design, floral arranging, etc. I was raised in the church with my family (8 siblings and my amazing mom and dad) but I did not truly know what it meant to love Jesus until I was about a sophomore in high school. I began to search and ask and pray, but I still never felt like I could truly hear His voice, or like He could hear mine. When I was a senior in high school, I went on a mission trip to Bogota, Colombia, and experienced for the first time in my life what it felt like to truly hear His voice and feel His love. I realized how personal He is, and began to feel His presence with me constantly. My life never went back to the same, and He began to take me on a journey of discovering who I am and what I am made for. I began to see the word Brave everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE. So I began to ask the Lord what about that word was significant. He brought to my mind the verse Psalm 27:13-14: "For I am confident that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait patiently on the Lord. Be brave and patient and wait on the Lord." (That's my mashup of a couple of versions. Same basic idea) I began to feel called to the field of counseling. So, I wrote an extensive research paper on it, and discovered a passion for the area of trauma. Something about the stories that are too terrible to be true. The hearts that are too broken to mend. Those are the souls my heart burns for. I began to get nervous.. "God, there is no way I can help them. There is no way I can take that burden. I am inadequate, and so afraid.." And again I heard Him to tell me to be confident that I would experience His goodness, NOW, in the land of the living! Regardless of the hardships I see people going through. Since this step in my journey, I have been a part of a college ministry which is growing exponentially. I have been a part of prayers for people with major health problems who have been miraculously healed, and I have watched lives change in incredible ways! The Lord has taught me what faith truly is. It is being confident in Him; knowing that He is good and will come through. I have never loved the way I love Him. I have never believed in anything the way He has taught me to believe. I have never been so full of joy before in my life.

The story of my becoming involved with Relentless is pretty incredible, too.

I was sitting in starbucks one day when a woman approached me and asked for help fixing a problem on her laptop, as I was using the same one. I helped solve her problem and went back to what I was doing. Later, as I was leaving, something (someONE, really) told me to follow up with her and make sure she had figured everything out. To make a long story short, she told me that she was trying to set up a website, and coincidentally (haha. I do not believe in coincidences) I had worked for a photography studio and been put in charge of setting their website up! So, we exchanged contact information, and I called her a few days later. We met a few weeks after that, and as we began to talk and swap stories, idea after idea poured from the both of us. I left feeling excited and encouraged, and curious to see where God was leading me now! Thing after thing has fallen into place, and God is the One driving this ministry. He has a greater plan than we could ever ask or imagine, and I for one am HONORED to be a part of it.

"For I am confident that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Be brave and wait patiently for the Lord."
